Microsoft announced Windows Store on September 13, 2011, but Windows Store was not made available until Windows 8 Consumer Preview on February 29, 2012. And the apps growth started on November 2012 which received a milestone of 25,000 apps.
Apps can be submitted by developers for free or paid. The paid apps has the range limit cost of $1.49 to $999.99. Microsoft takes 30% cut of the app sales until it reaches $25,000 and then the cut drops to 20%.
